In Jewish theologian Martin Buber’s terms, pornography, infidelity, and abusive relationship patterns create “I-It” relationships—in which one person perceives and uses the other as a thing—rather than an “I-Thou” relationship—in which both people treat each other as equals, and work to grow each others’ lives.
